02/01/04 Branch Contact News

Within the last few weeks, the branch has sadly lost a few of its most experienced and senior officers - Jeannie Henderson, Branch Welfare Officer and Lorna Castle, Chairperson of the College Sub-Branch.  We would like to take the opportunity to thank them for their support over the years.

We also say "au revoir for a while" to Ken Matthews, Service Conditions Officer whilst he takes a break from active union activities for a "gap" year.  Before his most recent role, many of you will remember Ken as our Branch Secretary.  During his stint he worked tirelessly throughout the consultation process for the departmental restructuring which was made particularly difficult during a period of industrial action whilst UNISON was successfully securing a fair deal for its members in local government.  He also played a major role in ensuring that the interests of members were protected during the benchmarking stage of the Single Status/Job Evaluation Exercise.  We wish him well and look forward to his return.

During Ken's year off, Dougie McPhee will be covering Ken's Service Conditions role.
Jane Fordyce, takes over from Jeannie as Branch Welfare Officer.

We are also pleased welcome two new stewards:

  • Judith Harris from Educational Services, Moray Council HW
  • Emma Sharpe from NCH.

Please visit the updated Who's Who for contact details for all Officers, Stewards, Contacts, Lifelong Learning Advisers, Health and Safety Reps

It is vital that we increase the number of trade union reps to support our increasing workload.  The more we have, the better we can do our job. As a member of the union you might wish to join a dedicated team of fellow stewards who are undertaking a rewarding job for their colleagues.
