      Scottish Council Committees

3 Moray UNISON Activists have been elected to serve on Scottish Council Committees:
 

	Dougie McPhee, Scottish Learning and Organising Committee (please visit our Lifelong Learning Section)
	John Barrett, Retired Members Committee (please visit our Retired Members Section)
	Steve Clegg, Health and Safety Committee (please visit our Branch Health and Safety Section Section)

This will ensure that the views and interests of Moray UNISON members will be well represented around the national negotiating table.

• UNISON Scottish Council comprises delegates from all Scottish branches and meets three times a year to elect officers, committees, delegations etc and set policies on general matters. It oversees the work of Scottish Committees. Pay and conditions issues specific to any particular service are dealt with by the Service Groups.

• UNISON Scottish Committee: comprises elected members from Scottish Council, Service Group delegates and Self Organised Group delegates. It has the key policy and strategy role between Scottish Council meetings.

• Service Groups and Sectors:  UNISON represents members in all the areas providing public services for the people of Scotland. Each area, or Service Group, has its own structures to address particular issues affecting that service, like representation at the workplace, negotiations on conditions and campaigning to protect and improve services.  The various groups are:  local government; voluntary sector; higher education; health; energy (electricity and gas); policy staff; transport; water
