Suffolk Police Staff Branch

THANK YOU FOR COMING

Thanks to all those who came to the launch lunch on the 19th March. By now you should find you digestive systems returning to normal from what I can only describe as a "Banquet in a Bun". One thing for sure, no one left there hungry! We still have a couple of little jobs to do before the site is complete. One of the important ones is to get the 'feedback' box working properly. In the meantime, please use the e-mail address for feedback (there is a link to it on the 'Contact us' page).

Don't forget also that this is YOUR site, please feel free to use it for any announcements you may wish to make.

At FHQ Operations, we have a box to collect old empty ink cartridges for recycling. Up to now, for every one that we send off, the RSPCA gets 50p. I have now found a local re-cycling  plant that is paying three times as much per cartridge and will collect as well. I have negotiated with them today to pay £1.50 to the NSPCC for every cartridge we give them. One important thing to remember is that THEY DO NOT TAKE EPSON cartridges but will gladly recycle all others.

Also, our own stores dept here at FHQ has it's own re-cycling plans and gets money back for the empty cartridges that are originally purchased new by the Force for use in their printers, faxes etc. So please, to avoid the embarrassment of having the 'Rubber Heel' department taking you to one side, don't send in the empty ink cartridge from the Police station fax machine or the office printer. If you have your own home printer or similar, then great, we would love your empties.

Operations Dept would like to set a target of £100 by this Christmas to help keep 'Childline' running and assist the NSPCC. Please help us by putting your empty ink cartridges in an envelope and sending them via internal post to Gavin Hamilton at Force Operations Room. Just remember, it only takes one empty cartridge to give a child an hour of help, that's a lot of comfort to a terrified youngster when they call in on 'Childline' and need to talk to someone on a phone. With your help we can do a lot, so please, don't just throw them away, think of that hurt abused, frightened child calling 'Childline' and getting all the comfort and help over the phone that it can and all because you sent a couple of empty ink cartridges in to raise enough for the cost of that call. It's so easy for each and every one of us to make a real difference here.

Update...........

EXCELLENT NEWS - OUR FIRST LOT OF EMPTY CARTRIDGES RAISED £45 FOR THE NSPCC. WELL DONE EVERYBODY
