Most people join and stay in UNISON to get the best representation and support at work when they need it. Rule book benefits: Full members are entitled to benefits paid out on: death, accident, fatal accident, permanent incapacity and partial incapacity. Education and training grants are also available.

Education and training: The Open College scheme offers a wide range of learning opportunities, which range from basic skills through to professional level qualifications.

UNISON Welfare: A unique service providing support exclusively for UNISON members and dependants at times of special need. The free and confidential debt advice referral scheme, in partnership with Payplan, has recently been set up.

Legal Advice: UNISON provides expert legal advice and services, including free assistance with problems at work and an extended package of legal services for members and their families.

Insurance and finance: Exclusive low cost insurance and financial offers for members and their families.

UNISONfree.net: Free Internet access, email and webspace for UNISON members.

UNISONdirect is a service for members of Nottinghamshire UNISON. UNISONdirect...

  • is a freephone help line for UNISON members. It is currently open from 6 a.m. to midnight five days a week plus 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

  • is aimed particularly at isolated members who do not know how to contact their local steward or branch. It is also aimed at giving UNISON members access to their union at their convenience which for shift workers, part-timers and many others means a time that is not between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

  • answers telephone enquiries and despatches appropriate advice leaflets, guidelines etc
