All members of Moray Unison, who retire from work are entitled to retain their membership of the unison and the branch as retired members. This includes members who take early retirement.
There is no cost involved. The one-off subscription is paid by the branch as a thank you for past involvement in the life and work of the union.
Continuing membership after retirement, enables members to maintain contact with colleagues.
Retired members enjoy all the benefits of UNISON membership including:
- Legal advice
- Welfare support
- Special discounts and offers on a wide range of financial and other services
The retired members' section is able to arrange activities and outings, lunches and meeting.
So if you are retiring soon - or have already retired - please get in touch with the Retired Members' Officer, through the branch office. You will be sent a membership application form and a reply-paid envelope. It's as simple as that! And free!
If you've been a UNISON member for at least two years on the day you retire and have either received state pension age or get a pension, you can become a retired member.

John has been elected to serve on the Scottish Retired Members Committee. This will ensure that the views and interests of Moray UNISON members will be well represented at national level.
UNISON works to raise awareness of issues which concern older people and to influence decision makers.
Our priorities include:
- Pensioner poverty
- Health care and age discrimination
- Isolation and mobility issues
Retired and working members have a shared interest in obtaining decent incomes in older age, a universal health service and the creation of a civilised society. Today's workers are tomorrow's pensioners and UNISON's members work in public services on which many older people rely.
The TUC 'Pay up for pensions' demonstration took place in London on Saturday 19 June. Thousands of members took to the streets to make sure the government got the message that pensions need sorting out. A 3-minute video of the demo is available to watch at http://www.unison.org.uk/multimedia
