DEANE STOP-THE-WAR RECALL
After a long summer break the
very successful local peace protest group, Taunton Deane Stop-the-War
Coalition, are calling upon all its supporters to renew their fight against
the Bush-Blair illegal, immoral and unnecessary invasion of Iraq and all
its presently exposed lies and failures by attending an important future
planning meeting on Monday next ( 8th September ) at 8pm.at the Perkin
Warbeck pub in East Street, Taunton.
One of the main purposes of
the meeting is to organise coaches from Taunton and Wellington to send
supporters to two coming enormous protest marches and rallies to “End
the Occupation of Iraq and the War Lies”, the first being on Saturday
27th September in London ( marching from Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square
) and the second on Tuesday 30th September in Bournemouth at the International
Conference Centre where Mr Blair will be making his keynote speech to
the annual Labour Party Conference ( Dorset STWC are hosting this mass
lobby and have added on to it a march through Bournemouth and finishing
rally ).
The TDSTWC’s regular
stall on Saturdays in the mouth of Taunton’s High Street is now
in place again. Also, protesting colleagues in Sedgemoor have organised
an afternoon’s Give Peace a Dance Fun Festival at the YMCA at Bridgwater
on Saturday 20th September to which TDSTWC hopes to participate. All further

Alan Debenham, joint co-ordinator
of TDSTWC commented :
“People now feel hopelessly deceived and let down by the Bush-Blair
pre-emptive illegal invasion of Iraq and they are demanding that both
of them be brought to justice for their apparent deceit of the UN and
American and British public over the reasons for killing thousands of
innocent Iraqi citizens and turning their country into an impoverished
on-going war zone. Iraqis want an end to the US/UK illegal occupation
of Iraq now and all administration and control returned to them immediately.
At the second massive Peoples
Assembly held in London on Saturday, which I attended on behalf of TDSTWC,
it was agreed that if Bush and Blair were not brought to proper national
justice via each countries public inquiry mechanism, then Peoples Assemblies
across the world would do this themselves and demand that they ultimately
answer for their ‘war crimes’ at the Hague’s International
Court of Justice. This Iraq invasion catastrophe must never be repeated
and Bush’s planned aggressive military and economic take-over of
the world under the guise of a ‘war against terror’ must be
halted now and the only real political opposition here and across the
world was the enormous Stop-the-War Peace Movement.
We were thinking of changing
our title now, but as civilians ( 8,000 estimated deaths, 20,000 seriously
injured ) and troops are still dropping like ninepins every day before
the sheer violence on the streets and the collapse of the human sustenance
infrastructure, it remains very appropriate, as many of us warned it would
some six months ago. The Deane’s school kids, in their unprecedented
mass protests on our streets, got it right with their ‘No War for
Oil’ banners.”
