TOM(A)LIN of
London & Essex
The TOMALIN line was the first branch of the family to be researched and initially it proved to be the easiest because of the wealth of original certificates that were in the family.
Unfortunately research has come to a temporary halt because of the difficulty in tracing earlier ancestors. The line starts with Thomas TOMLIN who was probably born before 1787 because he was married at St Leonards, Shoreditch, Middlesex in 1807. St Leonards, Shoreditch is a very large parish and as it was part of the East End of London there is a very large movement of population and very many births were not recorded as there was no reason to have children baptised.
The only known child of the marriage is George Pentlow Tomlin, this is because an extensive search of the East London parish registers has not yet been carried out.
