Festivals and Concerts

August 1999
6 - 8 Dartmoor Festival, South Zeal, Devon
We really enjoy this festival. It is really friendly, very laid back but still attracts top names. The Dartmoor Step Dancing and Broom Dancing Championships are one of the highlights for us. More details can be found on the Somers Folklife Web Page

27 - 30 Wadebridge Folk Festival, Wadebridge, Cornwall
Watch out for Cornwall Songwriters together or individually - Pete Berryman and Mike O'Connor are both booked separately as well. Mike writes stunning songs and tells wonderful stories and Pete has a very loyal following in Cornwall. Go along and find out why. Also look out for Roger Bryant who will be there as part of Rum and Shrub, Tony Franklin, Tony Truscott and John Wallace who will be playing at various venues around the Festival.

SEPTEMBER
3 - 5 Wareham Wail, Worgret Village, Wareham, Dorset
A weekend of outstanding traditional, unaccompanied, singing. This is one of our favourite festivals. Invited singers from across the country make sure that the singing is of a very high standard. Not to be missed. Contact Alan White on [email protected]

OCTOBER
9th Cornwall Songwriters at Callington Town Hall 8pm start
Come along and see what talent there is in Cornwall. We once overheard someone say that there are no good songs coming out of Cornwall anymore! Come and see just how wrong he was.

Cornwall Voice Tour, Falmouth, Cornwall
date to be confirmed but watch this space. A weekend in a hotel on the coast given over to fine singing well into the night. Good friends, good company.

2000 February
Callington Town Hall An evening with Jon and Kathy and friends.
Time and date tbc. Come along and join in.

March
Crediton Folk Festival.
A very friendly festival. Held in the Red Lion at Shobrooke. Usually the last weekend in April. Good singing sessions in the bar, concert in the restaurant. Meet all your old friends and make lots of new ones.

May
12 - 14 Fox and Hounds 2000, Bridestowe, Devon.
This is our weekend!! Hope to see you there. Early booking of hotel rooms, caravan hook-ups and bunk rooms is advisable. Frank loves having us there and many people come back for long weekends, camping holidays or even drop in for a meal at all times of the year. email us for more details

  • Village Folk Club, Catisfield, A very friendly club which we really enjoy playing. Jon often drops in unannounced! What they said.

  • Newport Folk Club, Newport, Red Lion, Stowe Hill, Newport, South Wales Whenever we are in South Wales we make a b-line for this club! Incredibly friendly, very warm welcome guaranteed. High quality heckling. Definitely worth a visit. Look out for Jon and Kathy there in 2000. We promise a very special evening……

  • Clwb Gwerin Llantrisant Folk Llantrisant, South Wales. Wednesdays at 8.30pm, The Bear Inn, Hoel - y- Sarn, Llantrisant. Renown for its guest list and quality of performance. Jon is a Life Member which is a great honour. You might even catch us there in the new year.
