UNISON will always listen to any member of staff with a problem and try and
help. If you are having a
problem at work, don't panic, chances are something can be done to help. The first
thing you need to do is :-
Talk to your manager or your Personnel
Advisor, let them know the problem and give them a chance to sort it out.
If it relates to
employment law, the web links given below may help. If it's to
do with your terms and conditions of work you can look at the
University's policies and procedures by navigating in Outlook to Public
Folders : All Public Folders : Information : Divisions : Personnel and
Development : Policy & Procedures. If its a health
related problem you may wish to speak to someone in Occupational
Health.
http://staff.plymouth.ac.uk/ochealth/ If that doesn't work
or you find it difficult to talk to your manager,
Write a brief letter to your manager or
Personnel Advisor - saying what your concern is, what happened and when, or
what didn't happen and should have. Remember to keep a copy for yourself.
If that doesn't work,
contact your
UNISON
local representative. They will listen to your problem in
confidence and then advise you about what choices you may have.
In cases of bullying or harassment, it could
be your manager who is the problem. If so, you may want to contact your
UNISON representative or a University Harassment Advisor or Staff Councillor
either before, or instead of, speaking or writing to your manager.
Don't despair, we will be glad to help and/or give advice.
We will not push you in a particular direction and we will be honest with
the choices open to you and will respect your wishes.
You can also call our national helpline, UNISONdirect, on
0845 355 0845 Lines are open from 6am to midnight on Monday to Friday and
