Dear Colleague and UNISON member,

It’s the time of year once more when we hold our Branch Annual General Meeting.

This year it will be held on Tuesday 15^th February in the Tamar Room Babbage Building, Plymouth Campus at 12.00 with the meeting set to commence at 12.30.  The room is booked until 2.00 – though hopefully it may not go on that long!

I hope you will be able to make it.  There will be a buffet (hopefully baguettes!) and refreshments starting at 12.00 and it would help if you could indicate your likely attendance so that we may more accurately predict our catering requirements.  That would be a great help.  If you think you might come, please drop me an email.  [email protected].

This year has been another busy one for the Branch.  More rounds of reviews and restructures (will they ever end!) have kept us busy in negotiations with the University.  2005 is set to be dominated by the Framework Agreement/Pay and Reward Project.  This will affect everyone and is a national initiative to create a single pay spine for all employees within Higher Education.  We are working in ‘unison’ with our colleagues in the other recognised unions to negotiate the best deal for our members.

At an individual level we have also had a busy year helping members with problems and concerns and once more we have had great support from our Regional Officer Iain Andrews.

For those who wish to attend the AGM but are not on the Plymouth Campus, travel rates will be paid by the Branch at standard University rates (please send claim forms to Branch Treasurer Cheryl Hurrell).

Unfortunately, time off to attend the AGM (outside the normal lunchtime period) has to be at the discretion of your manager.
