Members are from all walks of life and our strength lies in our informality and flexibility. If you have a particular interest mention it, if you want to organise it - even better. Don't worry if you can't attend on a regular basis, we accept that family and work commitments affect most people.

A typical weekend away will provide either a walk of 15/18 miles or a "challenging" activity on Saturday, followed by a shorter walk on Sunday. The more extreme events will include qualified instructors. But if this seems too strenuous there is usually an alternative stroll to local facilities or sites of interest. Of course there are also local walks and activities, often on a Sunday and regular evening visits to local climbing walls.

To limit cost, weekend accommodation is usually arranged in a Youth Hostel. These have been greatly improved over recent years with hot water, showers and carpets so don't let that put you off! Occasionally we will rent the whole of a smaller hostel, or cottage for a more informal gathering. Trips under canvas are also popular.
