General Questions and Answers

  • I am a paying Unison Member but am not receiving any information any more from Unison Regional Office.

  • The chances are that the Regional Office have received returned mail because you have moved house and they are unaware of your new address.  It is a common assumption amongst City of Stoke On Trent employees that payroll automatically inform us of changes of name and address. Unfortunately, they are unable to do so due to Data Protection Act Regulations.  Therefore, contact the branch office on 01782 236750 with your new details.

  • What is the difference between the General Political Fund and the Affiliated Political Fund?

  • Part of your Unison subscriptions (at no additional cost) are allocated to either the General Political Fund or the Affiliated Political Fund.  Unison is affiliated to the Labour Party, locally and nationally, through the Affiliated Political Fund (APF). This link promotes the views of our members and the needs of the public services within the Labour Party, in Parliament and in Europe.

  • Unison's General Political Fund (GPF) is used to pay for campaigning at branch, regional and national levels of the union and for research and lobbying in Parliament and Europe. It is independent of support for any political party.
