BALLOT RESULT

(updated 12 August 2004)

Here is the result of the London Weighting consultative ballot.

In answer to the question “Is the London Weighting increase enough to end our current dispute?” the following votes were cast:-

NO = 144 votes

YES = 45 votes

(Spoilt paper = 1)

This is therefore a 76% vote to continue with the dispute.

The turnout percentage of the actual members eligible to vote is (student, retired, LSHTM and RVC members were ineligible)= 44%

This is a high turnout and considering the ballot took place in the holiday period we consider that this result is truly representative of the membership.

This result will not affect whether you will be paid the London Wieghting increase in this months pay packet. UNISON will be informingthe UCL Provost of this result.

UCL Amicus have also completed their ballot and to a similar question 86% voted to continue with the dispute on a 44.6% turnout. The higher NO vote reflects the smaller increase for Technical staff who were originally on more than everyone else at £2262 (as opposed to £2134). The AUT will be balloting in September.

An agenda item will be placed on the next Members meeting to discuss how to continue with the dispute.
