Minutes of the last meeting (AGM 2003)

 held on Wednesday 18th March 2003, Council Room,  1-2pm

Minutes of last meeting and Matters arising

Proposed by JF, seconded by Bill as a true record of the meeting.

 

 Vote:      14 in favour             0 Against        6 Abstentions  Result:   Carried

 Minutes were agreed.  

 

 Welcome

The chair welcomed everyone to the 2003 branch AGM.

 

Stop the War

The meeting marked 1 minute silence to mark the start of the war.  UCL UNISON is affiliated to the stop the war campaign.  Students will walk out of lectures at 12 noon assembling at the from quad.  A demonstration will take place at Tavistock Square with unions regional.  Marching to Parliament Square.

The following reports were circulated with the agenda:

Branch Development and Organisation plan will be updated and reported in the Recruitment officer’s monthly report.

Branch Treasurer

Treasurer explained that the accounts were approved by 2 members of the branch as part of the requirement of UNISON.

 

Vote on accounts being the true record of the branch accounts.  Proposed by JF, seconded by KG:

Health and Safety Officer

All areas should have a Health and Safety Officer in place.  Contact BL if one is not in place in your area of work.

 The reports were explained by officers. 

 Reports tabled at the meeting:

 Written Reports were not received from:

 Black Members Officer

 Welfare Officer

 WB reported that there was nothing of interest to report on Welfare officer post.  There are plans to set up a web page during the next year.

 

 SS reported that there is not a black members convenor in post.  SS will contact the BM Officer to see whether a report could be supplied.

 

Thanks

TS and JF thanked all officers for all the hard work that was put into in the branch during the past year.  This thanks was extended to those officers that were no longer in post.  TS also thanked the chair for all the good work that has been carried out.

 

 Election of Officers

See attachment 2.  All elected officers present at the meeting introduced themselves. 

 

 TS welcomed all new branch officers.  TS will forward details on courses and officers requirements and also will inform line mangers where required.

 Election of delegate to labour against war

Must be a member of the labour party.

 On the 29th march 2003, (09.30 to 16.30hrs) the labour party are holding a conference for its anti-war members.  Trade union branches can send delegates

Friends Meeting House, Euston Road, London NW1 (near Euston and Kings Cross stations). This event is open to all LAtW sponsors and affiliates. CLPs, trade unions and other affiliated organisations are invited to send delegates

Meeting at 11.30 outside Bloomsbury Theatre.
