Charity Action for Relief of Multiple Sclerosis

Charms therapy centre is situated in Chelmsford on the Springfield Industrial estate. It was opened in 1984 by a group of people with MS who were refused treatment by the NHS. They provided a number of therapies including oxygen therapy and physiotherapy. Oxygen therapy requires a special chamber and it is the only one in Essex.

People with other neurological illnesses also benefit from oxygen therapy and they asked if they could receive treatment as well. They were welcomed and CHARMS now treats people with all neurological illnesses. It now offers a range of other services including, psychology, advocacy, benefits advice and serves as a drop in centre.

It is run by a committee of members who use the centre, and services change according to demand from members.
