Welcome

The Somerset Anti Prejudice Movement was founded at a meeting in Taunton in May 2003. It is a broad-based coalition of individuals from all walks of life and different parts of Somerset who all have one thing in common - opposition to racism, fascism and prejudice of all kinds.

The Movement arose out of a group of individuals from all over Somerset who came together at the recent Taunton Deane elections with the sole aim of opposing the extremist British National Party, who were standing in Halcon and Lyngford wards. The group worked hard to ensure that the residents of those wards were in no doubt that, despite their attempts to appear respectable, the BNP secretly harbour an ideology based on hatred and prejudice.

The Movement now intends to broaden this work and to counter prejudice and the destruction that follows in its wake wherever it may appear. We call on everyone opposed to racism, fascism and prejudice of any kind to join us.

Annual membership is £2 waged/ £1 unwaged, £10 organisations & Trade Unions. To download an application form please use the links on the left and then contact us and we will give you the address to send it to!
