Cornish Christmas

The show starts in the very far west of the county with songs from the time before Christianity arrived. From there we travel to Mousehole for the celebration of Tom Bawcocks Eve in both song and story including a tribute to the men lost on the Solomon Browne, the Penlee Lifeboat. Crossing from South Coast to North Coast, the Padstow Carols are the next tradition to be celebrated, then passing on to South East Cornwall for the tradition of the Dripping Man and Wren Hunting. To round off the evening we share the tradition, in song and in story, of Wassailing.

When they performed their Cornish Christmas in Fareham, Hampshire, to great acclaim, at the end of the evening one of the audience was found sobbing her heart out outside. It transpired that she was Cornish and now 'wanted to go home'! Not, I might add to her house in Southampton but back home to Cornwall.

The songs, stories and traditions of their adopted homeland, Cornwall, are brought to life over the evening. But…don't think you can just come and watch! In Cornwall Christmas is shared and everyone celebrates with each other. For a night of sharing, joining in and listening (heckling too!) this is the show for your club or festival.
