2.3 Telling an OS X Server to use a NetInfo Master (10.2) |
NetInfo is the method by which OS X stores user account information. In order to access user network accounts (i.e not local accounts) - then your clients or servers must know about the NetInfo Master. |
| During the installation process, "Open Directory Assistant" is launched automatically. | |
"Open Directory Assistant" allows you to decide if your server is a master (serving directory information to other machines) - or not (being served by a NetInfo master). |
| Servers should have a permamnent IP address. | |
| Click on "get directory information from an existing system" | |
Select "NetInfo" as the directory protocol. Click on "Static IP address" In the NetInfo Server IP Address field, enter the IP address of your NetInfo master server. In the NetInfo Server Tag field, enter "network" |
You will be presented with a recap of your choices. Click "Go Ahead" if you are satisfied. |
There will be a short delay while the configuration is created. |
| Click "Restart" to make the configuration active. | |
