Please be aware that these notes are not complete and are not necessarily 100% accurate. However, if you find them useful or if you spot some errors - let me know. Basically with the help of a few shell scripts and some text files, you can set up a server complete with home directories and user accounts for several hundred users - in about 1 hour (excluding the initial installation). One thing to note - "NetBooting" is not mentioned anywhere in these notes. I don't have any experience with it - and I don't think that the pros (minimal client administration) can outweight the cons (slow performance). Finally, I have had to disguise my email address due to SPAM. So if you email me, change the AT to an @ symbol. I.E. for postmaster AT localhost read postmaster@localhost. (note not my address!) | |
