What does UNISON do?

Unison negotiates conditions of service and pay for nearly 1.5 million members, including Mid Devon District Council employees. (Unison is the main union at MDDC but there are others.)  Unison represents its members in legal case and earns hundreds of thousands in compensation for industrial injuries etc.  Day to day, members of the Branch Executive are there to give advice and help find solutions to any problems members may encounter at work, with colleagues, managers or other people they come into contact with.  Locally we also represent members at disciplinary and grievance proceedings, and get involved in things like job evaluation and re-structuring to make sure all members receive fair treatment.
