Get Involved

Calling all Under 30's

We have received the following letter, calling all 'younger' members to get involved....If you are under 30 could you spare the time to get involved???  We need a Young Persons officer to sit on the Branch Committee.  Speak to any member of the Executive if you think you could fullfil this role.  We are all happy to talk about what an Executive member does, and remember - people make a Union - And just before you sit back and let some one else do it - if we all do that one day it might not be there anymore - Just when you might need it most.  Think about it.....

Dear Colleague,

IMPROVING COMMUNICATIONS WITH UNISON YOUNG MEMBERS.

Young Members in UNISON are very important to us and it may surprise you to know that there has been an ever decreasing decline in the number of Young Members attending meetings and events, despite a number of incentives to try and encourage them to be part of the Regional Group.

Regrettably only two members attended the last meeting which meant that some important issues were not discussed or agreed.

In an effort to improve the communication with our Young Members I intend to set up a Regional Mailing  list of as many of our Young Members as possible.  This will enable us to keep them right up to date on what is going on with the Group and hopefully gain their support and participation.

I would, therefore, be most grateful if you could let me have, either by post or email, a list of all the Young Members in your branch and a Youth Officer contact name if you have one please.

Also, if you or any of the Young Members in your branch have any ideas for getting young people involved, please let me know.

I look forward to hearing from you and many thanks for your assistance.

 Yours sincerely,

Christina O’Neill
