MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF MID DEVON BRANCH OF UNISON HELD ON THE 10^TH MAY 2002.

Present : B Williams, N Davies, C Jones, L Chilcott, T Dawe, B Cornes, C Thorn, P Evans, J Hanson, A Janes, P Saunders & M Flanagan. 

Apologies :  P Hall & C Marlow. 

1.     Minutes : AGREED as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

2.     Matters Arising : 6b Confirmation that HQ owes branch sum of £673.55 for last financial year. AGREED that A Thorn be appointed as  Hon Branch Auditor. 6c Welfare Sec reported card and gift sent to R Dean but still unsure of date of M Gill retirement.

3.     Pay Dispute : Secretary reported on various items received from HQ.  Referred to need to update branch membership records.  Vice Chairman referred to meeting she would be attending next Tuesday at Taunton.  Issue of those members whose pension rights could be affected if in last year of service.  Concern that non-members would reap same rewards as members who might take industrial action and be financially worse of.  Question as to how MDDC would deduct  any strike pay,  previous strike pay was deducted as one fifth rather than one seventh.  Assumed advice would be available over this point. Possible need to call special branch meeting was discussed.  Thought meeting should be arranged for mid June.  Formation of branch working party discussed and AGREED that it should consist of  : Chairman, Vice Chairman,  Secretary,  A Janes and J Hanson.  Chairman thought it would be helpful if members could consider examples of goodwill the staff undertake and these could be used in press releases etc.
