Peewee Game, Dragons 1 - 3 Hurricanes
MVP Danny Mullay, Magnus Johnson
Another whirlwind start by Scott Lawson and Magnus Johnson could have sealed this game except for Magnus Sinclair and the post. The Hurricanes were unable to get out of their own half for much of the opening period as Steven Stove and Magnus Johnson dominated the centre line for the Dragons. It was only at the end, when legs were tiring, that the Hurricanes made any impact and that came when Magnus Sinclair flicked the puck out to Kieran Smith who outpaced the defenders to score.
Magnus Johnson leveled for the Dragons after Scott Lawson broke down the left and sent a perfectly weighted pass onto his stick. From then on it was Danny Mullays match. He scored his career first goal when Kieran Smith redirected a pass from the left wing late in the second and followed this up with a fine solo goal late in the third.
Junior Game, Dragons 6 - 3 Hurricanes
MVP Jared Deeney, Magnus Laurenson
The first two periods of the Junior game couldn't have been much closer. Ruairidh MacKenzie opened the scoring for the Dragons off a Jared Deeney feed, within minutes Ben Davis assisted and Magnus Laurenson scored to bring the Hurricanes level. Early in the second they took the lead when Magnus converted a pass from Andy Harper. Antony Okill then had a goal disallowed and Magnus Laurenson took advantage of a lack in concentration to sneak his and the Hurricanes third. As the period was drawing to a close Jared Deeney found space on the right and set Dan Ralf away to bring the score back to 3 - 2.
In the final period every loose ball and every piece of luck seemed to fall to the Dragons, that isn't to say that they didn't work hard and deserve their breaks but four unanswered goals, two from Jarad Deeney and one each for Antony Okill and Ruairidh MacKenzie gave the Dragons a 6 - 3 victory, which didn't truly reflect the closeness of the game.
