Gulberwick took on the rest of the world at Sandwick on Saturday when just seven players turned out for the weekly skate hockey session. Andy Harper and Magnus Laurenson have been paired up regularily through the season and both quickly got their names on the score sheet. Jared Deeney pulled one back for the Rest of the World and then scored again to equalize. Amy Harper put Gulberwick back in front just before the first break, 3 - 2.
The scoring continued thick and fast in the second period. Kieran Smith equalized once more for the World team only for Magnus Laurenson to put Gulberwick back in front with a deft wrist shot. Two in quick sucession from Jared put the World ahead for the first time going into the second break, 4 - 5
Andy Harper opened the third period with a great goal from a very narrow angle, Kieran scored his second to restore the Worlds lead only for Amy to knock in her second. With time running out the game needed a winner and Magnus Laurenson thought he had done it, but his goal was ruled out for "off side". This didn't seem to put him off though as just moments later he scored the winner, Gulberwick 7 - 6 Rest of the World.
Saturdays game is at the Clickimin at 1:00pm
