The first competition tested shooting accuracy. Each shooter had 1 minute to take 10 shots at goal, 1 point was awarded for a goal and 5 points if one of the two targets were hit. Andy set a great score as first shooter for the Junior Black team allowing Jared and Magnus to go for the targets without worrying about any misses. Whites were left with a challenge and both Antony and Christopher made good attempts, Ben as last shooter for Whites had to go for broke and his total reflects how hard the targets are to hit.

Despite missing with his first shot he collected himself and hit the all important "5" with shot number 8.

The slalom involved each player dribbling a ball around a number of obstacles, as in skiing a missed gate resulted in disqualification. Ben Deeney opened for Black with a steady round which was just fast enough to pressurise the White skaters. Both Antony and Ben Davis were in for very fast times but missed gates while first Andy overtook Ben's time and then Magnus posted a faster time still. This left Christopher with a lot to do and while he failed to beat the time he finished the course, just!

Skate Hockey penaties are taken by a player dribbling the ball from the halfway line and trying to score past a goalkeeper who is allowed to move from the moment the ball is first touched. Both the Shetland Dragon goalkeepers have proved themselves very capable against penalty shots and this competition was no different. Similar to soccer shootouts the format was best of five with sudden death to follow in case of a tie.
The Juniors shot against Jonathan Sandilands who stopped the first 7 shots. The duck was broken by Christopher who lifted the ball over Jono's dive and Robert Hannah scored Whites second.

The speed skating competition was run in a mini knockout format, four skaters from each team competing head to head with the winner progressing to the next round.
Andy, Emily and Antony won convincingly in the first round, in the last of the opening races Ben Davis was a couple of metres ahead coming into the last turn but overcooked it and ended up in the bleachers giving Magnus an easy win. The semi finals were both close with Emily taking an early lead and just managing to keep ahead. The race between Magnus and Antony was the closest and the fastest of the night, Antony won by less than half a metre in a time of 13.6 seconds. After that the final was a cruise.

In the Pee Wee competition Kieran started as he meant to go on easily beating Marcus. Magnus also had an easy victory over Roseanne. Steven had shed his goalkeepers armour to show that he too could skate and he beat Amy by 5 metres. Joe cruised past Alex into the semi's. Kieran won his semi final comfortably however Joe had to work hard to pip Steven at the post. Kieran posted the fastest Pee Wee time of the night winning the final in 14.1 seconds, a time only beaten by the Antony - Magnus semi final in the Junior competition.

Another 2 points for White giving them a 6 - 2 lead going in to the hockey match.
With the Black team looking to win the match by 5 goals they needed to score quickly and the opening few minutes of the match were dominated by attacking play from Jared, Magnus Laurenson and Andy. Unfortunately Jonathan was in top form and he denied first Magnus and then Andy with fine saves. Things got worse on Whites first real attacking opportunity when Emily picked up a loose ball about 5m to the left of goal, cut right and scored with a well placed shot into the right corner.
Joe and Magnus Johnson carried on with Blacks attacking mission and both Marcus and Joe were foiled by Jonathans goalkeeping. Blacks defence had to keep awake though as Kieran and James were looking for any opportunity to break out.
Jared scored for Black on his next shift, Magnus Laurenson took a long shot from the left point which Christopher blocked, from the ensuing scamble the ball spilled out to the right where Jared was ready to pounce. One all in the match and 7 - 3 overall.
The commitment to attack cost Black dearly in the next Pee Wee shift. Kieran was fist to reach a loose ball just inside the White half, he outpaced the Black defence and scored low into the left corner. Kieran and James dominated the remainder of this shift, Danny plays his defence well forward which provided Whites with both quick ball and a threat from long range.
Magnus Laurenson made the move of the match at the beginning of his next shift. Moving left to right out of Blacks defensive zone he put the ball to Robert's right, between his body and stick! and skated round Roberts left, reclaimed the ball and drove deep right, his centering pass beat all the defenders but Jared was unable to convert. Magnus Laurenson and Andy linked up to score a second goal for Black shortly after, Andy played a soft pass inside from left point and Magnus shot high right past Jonathans catcher. With only minutes left Black were unlikely pull back enough goals to win and Ben Davis finished them off at the very end when he received a pass from Antony in the slot and scored through Jonathans legs.
The final score was White 9 - 4 Black.
