Two matches were played out at the Clickimin on Saturday and despite the holiday break most players were in good form.
The Pee Wee match was contested between teams of 4 rather than the usual 5 which allowed more space and time for the players to control the ball. Black were quickly on the attack with James Nicolson, Magnus Johnson and Amy Harper playing well off each other. Joe O'Connor elected to take up what is a new role for him as defence for White. His speed around the court, together with Alex Watt's more physical approach kept Black from any clear chances. Both Alex and Joe have an urge to attack and White threatened on several occasions when they joined Marcus Nicolson and Daniel O'Connor on the break. Marcus was a particularly suited by the extra space and it needed some good defending from Roseanne Watt to keep him out.
The final five minutes were end to end stuff. Joe O'Connor shot wide for White and Daniel O'Connor hit the post whilst James Nicolson put three successive shots just wide of the left post.
Final Score 0 - 0.
The Junior game opened with Magnus Laurenson covering defensive duties for White, this didn't cramp his goal scoring as, after just 3 minutes, he broke down the left wing to open his tally with a low shot into the right corner. Less than 4 minutes later it was 2 - 0 when Magnus scored off a pass from Jared Deeney then 3 - 0 when Magnus scored on another breakaway.
The rout was stopped when Ben Davis picked up a loose ball on halfway and opened Blacks scoring with a wrist shot inside the left post, Andy Harper brought Black within one with his own solo goal and could have scored another but for some brave goalkeeping from Steven Stove.
In the last five minutes Steven denied first Ben Davis then Christopher Storey before Whites sealed their victory with goals from Kieran Smith, off an Emily Garrick rebound and then Magnus Laurenson with his third and Whites fifth.
Final score White 5 - 2 Black.
The next game will be at the Clickimin on Saturday at 11:45am.
