24 players filled the Clickimin on Saturday and once again the games where split into Juniors and Pee Wee's.
The Pee Wee Whites started out strongly with some positive play from Amy Harper and Magnus Johnson, however Donovan Yianni and Alex Watt broke up any attacks before they could threaten the Black goal. The Black attack were not able to move forward with any pace, usually due to too many players crowding the ball. This resulted in most of the play taking place around the halfway line. At halftime there had been no real threat on goal from either side.
In the second half the Blacks Marcus Nicolson, in only his third game, started to find some space and he had a number of good chances. Whites were also developing their game, Danny Mullay started to control the ball in defence and set up attacking plays with accurate passes. Lewis Jamieson and Amy Harper dominated the wings and only the lack of a supporting attacker in front of goal stopped the Whites from taking the lead. In the last 5 minutes Shelly Jamieson, in her first game, started to move forward into this position and was unfortunate not to score.
The Junior match started at a fast pace and never really slowed down. Ruairidh Mackenzie, Emily Garrick and Antony Okill combined strength and pace in the Reds attacking line and despite the best efforts of the blues defence they went ahead when Ruairidh miscued a shot high off the back wall, Antony controlled the rebound and scored a neat goal past the unbalanced goal keeper.
Reds could easily have extended their lead but Steven Stove in the Blue goal was having a stunning game and made several goal line saves. Blues attack was also starting to gel and Ben Davis, Kieran Smith and Magnus Laurenson all had chances either blocked or saved. The final goal came from Andy Harpers move out of defence down the right wing, bringing an extra player up into attack broke down the cover in the Blue defence and a pin point pass from deep right found Ruairidh in front of goal and he doesn't usually miss from there.
