Shetland Dragons Skate Hockey Constitution

Adopted 1st September 1999.

1. Title

a. The Association shall be known as Shetland Skate Sports.

2. Objects

a. To act in a co-ordinating role for the playing and development of skate sports within Shetland.
b. To be responsible for the development of youth skate hockey through the organisation of coaching / training sessions for all members.
c. To create / coordinate a league structure for skate hockey in Shetland.

3. Membership

a. Membership is open to all residents of Shetland regardless of age, sex, race or disability.
b. Membership shall be dependant upon payment of the annual membership fee.

4. The Annual General Meeting

a. Not less than 14 days notice of a general meeting shall be given.
b. All members will be entitled to attend and vote. The AGM will.

i. Receive the Director of Sports report.
ii. Approve the treasurer's report and audited financial statement.
iii. Agree annual membership fees.
iv. Discuss and vote on any other business received by the secretary in writing at least one week prior to the AGM.
v. Elect the office bearers.
vi. Time permitting discuss any other relevant business.

5. Office Bearers

a. The office bearers of the association will be elected annually at the AGM and will be:

i. The Secretary
ii. The Treasurer
iii. The Director of Sport / Chair.

b. All office bearers must be at least eighteen years of age on the day of appointment.

6. Committee

a. The Shetland Skate Sports committee will comprise the

i. Secretary.
ii. Treasurer.
iii. Director of Sport / Chair
iv. One representative from each of the six regions. A region that has developed its own committee structure will elect its own representative; otherwise a representative from that region shall be elected at the AGM.

b. Each representative will be entitled to one vote. Any member may attend a meeting as an observer.

7. Finance

a. The Association's financial year shall run from the first day of September to the last day of August.
b. A financial statement shall be presented to the AGM.
c. Monies received on behalf of the Association shall be paid into bank accounts in the name of "Shetland Skate Sports".
d. All cheques drawn against the Association shall be signed by two office bearers.
e. The Committee may authorise expenditure out of the Association funds only for the furtherance of the objects of the Association.

8. Assets

a. Shetland Skate Sports shall maintain a pool of equipment for the use of members.
b. This equipment is primarily to allow new players to try skate hockey, established players will be encouraged to buy their own equipment.
c. Should Shetland Skate Sports cease to exist, any remaining assets will be offered to the Shetland Islands Council Education and Community Services Department.
