Car Mileage Rates
How much do you get paid if you use your car? The national Terms and Conditions which are current until a Red Book replacement is agreed is quite clear on the rates.
East Lothian Council, however, have chosen unilaterally to pay a lower rate in some circumstances. They call this the "public transport mileage rate", and it does not adequately cover the running costs of a car.
UNISON maintain that their members should not be subsidising the Council by accepting less than the properly applied national mileage rates when using their cars in the furtherance of the Council's business. Our members are not charity workers.
This matter is being actively pursued with Management.
