OUTDOOR GROUP
CONSTITUTION AND RULES
1. NAME
1.1. The name of the club is the West Anglia Outdoor Group hereinafter referred to as "the Group".
2. OBJECTIVES
OF THE GROUP
2.1. To provide opportunities for members of the Group to meet and participate in recreational activities within the open countryside and on water.
2.2. To act on behalf of and in the interests of Group members.
2.3. To promote awareness of the need to maintain access, conservation and protection of the countryside and marine environment.
2.4. To take part in the work and activities of the Youth Hostels Association (England & Wales).
2.5. To take part in the work and activities of the British Mountaineering Council.
3. MEMBERSHIP
OF THE GROUP
3.1. Membership of the Group shall be open to adults by annual subscription hereinafter referred to as "the membership".
3.2. In addition to 3.1 above membership of the Group shall only be open to individuals who recognise that outdoor activities involve a degree of personal injury or death. Members shall be aware of and accept these risks and agree to be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
3.3. Group membership is not open to minors (under 18 years of age).
4. MANAGEMENT
OF THE GROUP
4.1. Management of the Group shall be entrusted to the Officers of the Group (as set out below) and whichever member is nominated as Organiser for any particular event or meeting.
5. OFFICERS
OF THE GROUP
5.1. The elected Officers of the Group shall be the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, hereinafter referred to as "the Officers".
5.2. Voting for the election of Officers shall take place at the AGM.
5.3. The Chairman will normally preside at and chair all meetings of the Group and shall be responsible for reporting to the membership at the AGM.
5.4. The Secretary shall be responsible for all correspondence relating to the affairs of the Group and for announcing meetings and the production of and distribution of minutes from those meetings. The Secretary shall also be responsible for announcing the AGM and shall give at least 30 clear days notice of such a meeting and its agenda. The Secretary shall keep records about the membership and shall report to the BMC the size of the membership.
5.5. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the collection of subscriptions and will account for any other income and expenditure made on behalf of the Group. The Treasurer shall be responsible for payment of the membership subscription to both the YHA and BMC and the insurance premium if this option is taken up.
5.6. A member shall be nominated by the Group to attend BMC Area Meetings and AGM to represent and vote on behalf of the Group.
6. SUBSCRIPTIONS
6.1. Membership subscription levels shall be set at the AGM.
7. RULES
OF THE GROUP
7.1. Group rules may be made at the AGM provided they are in accordance with this constitution and the policies of the YHA and BMC.
8. AMENDMENTS
TO THIS CONSTITUTION
8.1. The Constitution may be amended at the AGM or any special meeting called for that purpose provided that at least two thirds of the total membership vote in favour of the change and in the case of a special meeting 30 clear days notice has been given to the membership of the proposed change.
9. DISSOLUTION
OF THE GROUP
9.1.
The Group may be dissolved by vote carried out in accordance with Article
9 whereupon any liabilities at the time of dissolution shall be the joint
responsibility of all members and any remaining assets shall be discharged
equally amongst the membership.
