About Me

I have been a member of NALGO since 1974, became a Steward and Health & Safety Rep in 1984 and have been an activist ever since. After the formation of Unison in 1996 and the change over to Unitary Status in 1997, numerous local Unison branches had to amalgamate.  I sat on the "shadow branch" which formulated the new City of Stoke-on-Trent Unison Branch.  

I am also a member of the Local Joint Consultative Committee and the branch negotiating term regarding discussions with the employers concerning the budget, Gauge Job Evaluation and Single Status etc.

I also represent the branch at Regional Local Government Committee, Regional Council and Provincial Council and have represented the branch at National Delegate Conference and National Local Government Conferences many times.

Stewards Meetings for the Year Ending March 2005

Our service group (stewards) meet about once a month to discuss Service Group Business and the business of the next branch Executive Committee meeting. These meetings are open to all members. If members wish to attend, contact me - in good time - to enable the meeting to be scheduled for lunch time.

There are numerous areas of our Service Group where Unison members have no workplace steward. Contact me for a chat about what would be involved in being a steward and I can also send out some paperwork for your consideration.
