The new seasons Activ-8 Junior Badminton League started in fine style with 24 teams competing in the first session at the Beach Leisure Centre, Aberdeen on the Sunday 16 January 2000. The format has changed from the previous year's event and this will provide for more structured competition. Four sessions are proposed with the eventual winners being awarded the Junior Crombie Cup. The Junior Crombie Cup has been competed for since 1959 by various junior teams throughout the North East of Scotland. Activ-8 was therefore delighted when the Crombie Committee decided to donate the Cup to the Junior Badminton League. The original intention of the Crombie Cup Competition was to foster and promote competitive badminton throughout the North East and it is hoped that the Junior League will carry on this objective for years to come. All teams in the Junior League have been graded and split into two Divisions of 12 teams each. The Crombie Cup will be presented to the winners of Division 1. The winners of Division 2 will be presented with medals. Each Division has been further divided into two Pools (A & B) of 6 teams, which will provide placings from 1 to 6. Teams will then join a new Pool, by order of their placing, thus creating three Pools of 4 teams (C, D & E). e.g. 1st and 2nd teams in Pool A will join 1st and 2nd teams in Pool B. Each team will play the other three teams in their Pool. This will give every team a final placing from 1-12 in Division 1 and 13-24 in Division 2.
